Many consider a 1911 the best pistol design for carry and defense. After all, a 1911 points naturally, trigger pull is unmatched and reliability has been proven over nearly 100 years of service. The single objection, at least by some, is the recoil of the .45 ACP. For shooters who prefer the mild recoil of the 9mm but still demand the unequaled dependability, smooth trigger pull and accuracy of a 1911, Kimber has created the Aegis family.

Like the Ultra Aegis II™, all Aegis pistols are made in the Kimber Custom Shop. Frames are machined from solid bricks of 7075-T7 aluminum on the same machines and to the same precision tolerances as Kimber steel frames. Aegis frames are light, making these pistols an absolute pleasure to carry. Both slide and frame are finished in KimPro II™, a premium finish that is self-lubricating plus extremely resistant to the elements and moisture.

Aegis pistols feature a ramped match grade barrel, bobbed hammer, solid match grade trigger, bumped grip safety with memory grooves and wide cocking serrations. Custom Shop additions like flat top slide, Tactical Wedge™ 3-dot (green) night sights and thin rosewood grips with ball-milled flutes boost performance while giving each pistol a dynamic appearance. A frontstrap with 30 lines-per inch checkering and high relief cut under trigger guard ensure a proper and positive grip even with wet hands or gloves.

Probably the most important Custom Shop feature found on every Aegis pistol is the carry melt treatment. All sharp edges are rounded and blended by hand to ensure these pistols do not hang up or cut into clothing or holsters.

The Custom Aegis II 9mm is a full-sized 1911 in many respects, but thin rosewood grips, lightweight aluminum frame and bobbed controls make it small-hands friendly. Magazine capacity is 9 rounds, and loaded with proper ammunition this pistol is ideal for personal protection. With a Kimber Aegis, dependability, accuracy and smooth trigger pull are not compromised for reduced recoil.

The Pro Aegis II goes a step further, as the shorter 4-inch bushingless bull barrel aids in concealed carry and reduces weight. The full-length grip is preferred by many shooter for recoil control, and magazine capcity remains 9 rounds. With all the features of the Custom Aegis II, it is an ideal choice for all around carry and personal protection pistol. Weight is just 28 ounces.

The Ultra Aegis II designed specifically for concealed carry, either alone or as a law enforcement backup. Weighing just 25 ounces, the 3-inch bull barrel and short grip allow all-day-every-day carry in holster, briefcase or purse. Magazine capacity remains 8 rounds. The Ultra Aegis II retains all the Custom Shop features of the larger models, and in almost all cases is a better choice for personal protection than any of the popular non-1911 pistols available today.
