Yonkers, New York, February 23, 2010 – Merging custom rifle performance with production rifle price, the Kimber® Model 8400 Police Tactical™ was introduced last year. Chambered in .300 Win. Mag., it sold strong and predictably created demand for a version in .308 Win. Kimber listened, and launched the new chambering at the 2010 SHOT Show.
Based on the Model 8400™ action with a full length Mauser claw for true controlled round feeding and extraction, the Police Tactical .308 Win. holds 5 rounds in the magazine. The 24-inch match grade barrel is fluted and has a contoured target taper. It also has a match grade chamber and incorporates a deep crown to protect the muzzle rifling. Finally, the safety is a 3-position wing, positive and nearly silent.
The stock is properly shaped from a blank of tough laminated wood and finished with textured matte black epoxy for both function and durability. An extra sling swivel stud on the beavertail forend readily accepts a bipod. The barreled action bears on twin aluminum pillars and the recoil lug is bedded. Accuracy is enhanced by the free floated barrel and a match grade trigger set to break at 3-3.5 pounds. A mil-spec Picatinny rail with 20 minutes elevation is standard, as is an extended bolt handle with enlarged knob.
Weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 43.5 inches overall, the Model 8400 Police Tactical is the apex of production tactical rifles. Suggested retail price is $1,476.
